Who We Are

True Fan Marketing had an unusual path of coming into existence. However, it started with one man’s dream of taking something he loved, and learning how to earn a living while doing it.

A Word from the Owner

As my career evolved, the next phase surprised me even more than the last.

From the time I was 15 years old, my dream was to play golf professionally. After a serious knee injury (and subsequent surgery/therapy), I didn’t have the slightest clue as to where my life was headed at the ripe age of 22. After a few years of working various dead-end jobs while trying to revive my playing career, I finally decided to put those efforts into a new venture.

After a couple years in college, I ventured to Las Vegas, where my love for poker (something I developed during my time in physical therapy) gave me something else to focus my efforts towards. A rekindling of the fire for golf, mostly sparked by working at a golf course with players who could test my skills, provided a new sense of purpose. Unfortunately, I didn’t love the direction my life was headed in, so it was back to the drawing board.

During all of these adventures, I blogged on various platforms, but never knew where it could take me. Finally, while sitting in my cramped Las Vegas studio apartment, I started writing everything I learned from my time as a gambler and as a professional golfer. The result was my first self-published book titled Professional Golf for the Rest of Us. I don’t think the book has sold more than 20 copies, but the doors it has opened have been numerous.

Shortly after publishing the book, I found the freelance platform Upwork. Using the book I published as my CV, my goal was to work my way up as a freelancer. The first few clients weren’t very lucrative at all, but seeing as I had no formal credentials at all, it was well worth it. Within 18 months of that first steady Upwork contract, I was able to convert to a full-time freelancer, which saved me from the boredom an annoyance of 2nd-shift security.

Fast-forward to 2020, approximately 3 1/2 years since I made my first dollar as a freelancer, and my life couldn’t be more different. In addition to SEO content, I have also been able to explore other interests like videography/editing, photography, website building, landing page creating, and even a little graphic design. I’m not rich, and have no idea when or if that is possible, but here is what I do have:

Complete freedom to work when I want and where I want.

The ability to work with people I enjoy working with (for me, this is huge)

Uncapped earning potential (limited only to the amount of effort I’m willing to put in)

and the freedom to explore other interests and build other valuable lifetime skills.

My story is just one journey on the path to having the freedom to do what I love, and there are people all over the world who are finding their own path as well. I have an immense amount of respect for someone who is willing to escape or avoid the rat race of the 9-5 workforce culture and take their financial future into their own hands. And that immense respect is exactly why I created True Fan Marketing.

Above all else, my goal is to empower and inspire others, as well as provide some straightforward, simple solutions if needed. Anyone who collaborates with me on various projects is a freelancer themselves, and we look forward to providing the best possible service for eager/enthusiastic small business owners and freelancers.
